| Mandate |
The Committee has the mandate to receive and to examine complaints from the public, to spread knowledge on human rights, to provide information about human rights to the Government and to advise it on the issue, and to analyse the human rights situation both in Thailand and abroad. It also has a duty to monitor the judiciary. |
| Membership |
The Committee consists of 15 parliamentarians selected from their own parties according to the proportion of each party's representation in the House. Their term of office is four years. |
| Working methods |
The Committee itself selects subjects for consideration. Its meetings are held in camera, except when the Committee Chair allows others to attend them. The Committee may conduct on-site investigations. It may summon any person to provide information, and may request relevant documents or evidence needed for investigations. It may set up subcommittees to consider specific subjects. The Committee may also convene workshops or seminars on human rights issues with concerned agencies, and may undertake study trips to provinces in Thailand and to foreign countries (the Committee has travelled for example to China, Denmark, Sweden and Norway).
Resolutions are adopted by simple majority vote. The Committee implements its resolutions by submitting them to the relevant organisations. It also reports to the House of Representatives, to which it submits an annual human rights report. |
| Relations with other parliamentary bodies |
As stated above, the Committee reports to the House of Representatives to enable it to consider the subject matters referred to it. |
| Relations with external bodies |
The Committee collaborates with the competent Government bodies, in particular the Ministry of Justice, in order to exchange information and opinions. As an independent parliamentary body, the Committee need not report to the National Human Rights Commission or other organisations. It does, however, work in support of the National Human Rights Commission. It also maintains contact with the Court of Justice. |

The issue of disabled persons requesting human rights protection from the Government and related organisations; examination of public petitions addressed to it.
Committee Consider and Investigation: 1) Corruption about poor quality of School-milk; 2) Corruption about rotten canned fish handed out to flood victims in the south of Ministry of Social Development and Human Security; 3) Thai Authorities had towed Rohinga boat people from Burma out to sea; 4) corruption in samutprakarn Provincial Administrative Organisation. |
